Commuters

I found a cool drawing program for my DS. I previously posted a picture to the blog and I've posted that on the official Colors! gallery now which is cool as you can see how it was drawn. (On a side note, I'm trying not to be put off by the amount of awesome stuff that gets posted on that gallery.) So yeah, I have a little art program and I can actually be creative whilst stuck on the train. Here are a few pictures of random people (mostly asleep) who I tried to sketch. I'd like to blame the roughness of these pictures on the fact that I'm not used to drawing on the DS and that the train (and subject) keeps moving but the bottom line is that I've never been great at drawing people. Hopefully this little bit of practice might help. Wondering why they are all male? It turns out that I feel really uncomfortable constantly sneaking peaks at women on the train, trying to draw them. It makes me feel like I'm being predatory or perverse or something. I imagine them being really offended and having me arrested for stalking or whatever. Is that odd?

Bat Girl

A friend did a picture of a girl with bat-like features so I tried to do the same thing. Mine came out a lot more bat than girl though! This is one of the oddest anthro images I've done so far. It almost looks like a cautionary tale for child stars of Disney animated films! "Sherri once appears as a cute forest side-kick in an animated feature... Today she hangs around seedy woods swaping sexual favours for insects." I working on this picture upside down until right at the end. I never intended to flip it but once I had put the background in it was too distracting otherwise. Click to see it in it's original orientation and see which you prefer.

Angelic Leap

Just indulging my wing fixation a little (plus I guess it's pratice for a picture I'll be drawing soon.) I just had to give up with this picture though because I know there is something missing. It feels way too flat but I kept messing with colours and textures. I also hate seeing images this small when I've spent so much time working on bits of detail. Don't look now but I reused the trees.

Autumn

It's hot... While others busy themselves about the bbq and work on their tans, I draw pictures of autumn dancing through, stripping the trees and chilling the air.

Plant Pot

A bit of a change fo pace. This is a scan of a pencil sketch I did the other day. The colour was added on the computer. I don't think it's really all that good but I'm posting it anyway just to counterpoint my previous post; just to prove that I do doodle other things. Unfortunatelty I tend to doodle them on stupid bits of paper (like the graph paper here... you can see the squares.)

Furry

I was going to try and think up soem clever name for this in an effort to justify it somehow but who am I kidding... This is clearly furry art. It's things like this which make my make my friends think I'm a sicko. Ho well. Not much else to tell you really.

Bad Idea

Do not interfere in the affairs of dragons for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup... For some reason I felt like creating an image which was very wide but not very tall. Of course this makes it useless for web consumption! Click the image for a larger, more detailed version which will likely as not completely screw up my website layout. Odd form factor aside, it's nice to have something new to post for a change!

Quiet

A diagram from the Neighbour De-Noiser 5000 user manual. The subtle yet effective, no-conflict method of dealing with sound polution. Simply point the low-power microwave array in the direction of the offending audio hardware and briefly flip the switch to "disrupt" the offending stereo equipment and resolve the volume issue without harm or fights.

Dominated

This is a quick sketch (about an hour I think) which represents how my friends picture me in 10 years time: Being happily bullied by a large domineering woman. Colour me scared.

Private Moment

Or maybe not all that private after all. It feels like I spent ages adding detail to this. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that it's 1am already. Oh well. I can't decide about this one. The hair isn't right and the wings are too fluffy really. Too late to change it now!
