| nother update? Already? Shhh... Quiet or you might scare it off...
...
OK... Who's blowing the vuvusela?!??
...
No matter. This week I have been fixing electronics, making costume and doing some experimental cooking. Sounds impressive non? I should probably let you know how I define those phrases before you become too overwhelmed by my awesome amazingitudeness!
Fixing electronics: Taking something old (such as a pair of headphones where the cable is starting to cut out) and combining it with other perfectly fine cables in order to return it to it's original fully working condition. That's the goal anyway. So far the only thing I've really acheived is to completely destroy the previously servicable item and also render the additional parts utterly useless. (As a side effect I also end up with small bits of plastic and wire all over the place.)
Making costume: Turning large useful pieces of fabric into small unusable pieces of fabric with two side effects: Firstly, a slight possibility that I'll have something I can wear, and Secondly, a very very good possibility that I will cut/stab myself in the fingers/hands/arms/legs and also damage any clothing I happen to be wearing on those locations. (Hmmm. Perhaps I should also include first aid practice in my list of things I've done.)
Experimental cooking: Combining various cooking ingredients in order to create new and interesting meals. Or more correctly: Realizing I don't have all that much food in the house (and that I can't be bothered to go out and get more) and so combining the various items that I do have in such a way as to end up with something significantly less appealing than the raw meterials I had at the beginning. Another definition here would be "wasting perfectly good food".
I guess the theme here is "destroying things" or possibly "small but significant way in which I have been a detriment to the world".
So what have we learned so far?
Yes, that's right! I'm a menace to myself (and likely would be to anyone stupid enough to be around me) and probably should have some kind of professional supervision.
Other things I have learned:- Any purchase which is driven primarily by nostalgia will probably end up being a waste of money.
- Looking at sewing machines appears to require some sewing machine equivalent of rocket science.
- Getting involved in any web-based community is a stupid idea and will almost certainly end in annoyance/frustration/disapointment.
- I should probably stop obsessing over Borderlands. (I'm sure some people think that maxing out your Steam rating is big and clever but I'm fairly sure those people are a third my age!)
- and finally: I am now old enough that the phrase "half my age" is no longer sufficient when trying to talk about young-kids! *sighs*
High point of the weekend was after I had opened all the windows to let the wind blow right through my flat and eventually realised that I was actually slightly cold! It even rained a little bit. It was fantastic!
